Club News

 

Our club will now meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 5:15 PM at the

Hilton Garden Inn in the American Grille Restaurant in Palmdale.  The Hilton Garden Inn is on restuarant row near the Antelope Valley Mall in Palmdale off of Rancho Vista Blvd and 10th St West.  The Hilton Garden Inn is at the end of restaurant row. There is ample parking, the food is great, and the prices are inexpensive and most of all, the company is priceless!  Welcome! 

 

Our new club officers took office in October. Our past president, Paula, has  done a terrific job of leading our club with the establishment of two junior Optimist clubs, a talent show, and a golf clinic for students in the Palmdale School District.  Paula is in charge of one junior optimist club and  Adriane has the other club. Thanks to all.

 

Michael Rives, president, and, club treasurer, Kim Perkins, participated in the AIDS WALK held in October in Lancaster. The club banner was proudly displayed throughout the walk! The walk was held on October 22 and the banner was captured in a news photo in the following Sunday's ANTELOPE VALLEY PRESS.

 

The installation of a new jooi (jr optimist club) was held on October 19th in Palmdale at Los Amigo School. The club sponsor, Paula Beatrice,  led the installation ceremonies for 18 new junior optimists. The Supt. of Schools for the Palmdale School District and the Principal of the school were in attendance. Certificates were presented to the club officers by Paula and certificates to all club members were given by Supervisor Mike Antonovich's office for the members dedication to their community.

 

Sandee Adams presided over the first S.O.C.K. fair in Lancaster on October 23. The fair was held to raise funds and promote care for abused children. The club had a table manned by Lt. Gov. Mike Holt of Zone 3 and Mike Rives, club president.
